Andi McDaniel is a journalist, photographer, and radio producer living in Berkeley, California. Her work has appeared in Orion, Utne Reader, The Washington Post, Ode, Alternet, and The New York Times Magazine.
Currently, Andi is studying at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. She recently completed a news internship with KCAW Raven Radio in Sitka, Alaska. In the past year, she has worked as a production assistant for PBS Frontline/WORLD and a correspondent for Round Earth Productions.
Previously, Andi worked as managing editor of the University of Minnesota publication Reach, editorial intern at Utne Reader, and program associate for the non-profit Renewing the Countryside. She has also been a firefighter in Helena National Forest, an organic farm apprentice in Virginia and Minnesota, and a bilingual substitute teacher in Chicago. She has an English degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
Andi was born in Schaumburg, Illinois, but her heart lies in Minneapolis.
